Pilot program for autism treatment extended for Military !!!

You have no idea how HAPPY this makes me to read this today, this program helps so many Military Families that are on the Spectrum.  My son currently recieves 6 hours a week thru the Echo Program and will be starting Hipa Therapy soon. ABA Therapy has been a blessing to our Family, we have a AMAZING therapist that works one on with him and we have seen so much progress in the past year.

Its definantly a program that everyone should be aware of. Do you have a child on the Spectrum and looking for extended Service ? if you are in the Colorado Springs Area and Active Duty with a child with a diagnosis on the Autisum Spectrum and are enrolled in EFMP you may qualify for the ECHO program thru Tricare.  You can contact the Colorado ECHO case manager Mary Willers R.N 1-866-876-2384 ext 42193 to discuss enrollment. When you are asked if you have a specific provider that you would like to use, I would HIGHLY recommend using Jennifer Williams she has a team of some great Therapist, and they are very dedicated to the Military families. and with helping with questions and paperwork.

The Pentagon announced Tuesday it is extending a pilot program that provides autism treatment to the children of service members.Tricare Management Activity will extend the Enhanced Access to Autism Services demonstration program through March 2014, according to a news release.The initiative allows beneficiaries — qualifying offspring of active-duty personnel — to receive 10 hours a week of applied behavioral analysis, or ABA, a treatment that helps autistic youngsters learn new skills and improve communications. The program continuation is good news for the families of the estimated 20,000 autistic military children.

Well the Photo above just about describes my life !!!!

I just want to briefly let everyone know that I totally appreciate each and everyone of you, thanks for all the emails asking if everything was ok. Yes everything is ok, i just have a full house of kiddos right now and 3 of them have special needs. For those of you that do not know me, here is a little insight to my life.

My husband and I our currently Foster Parents with the state of Colorado and have had the opprutunity to adopt a beautiful little girl who will be turning 2 in a few weeks, she has multiple issues and is G-tube feed with other numerous things going on.  We also have her sister that is a foster child she is 14 mos she came to us straight from the Nicu, she has multiple issues as well.  and yes we would love to Adopt her as well.

I have a 3 year old son that has SVT *extremly fast heart rate*  he was born with this and has had one failed heart ablation. he has recently being having unexplained episodes. So along with this comes doing daily heart rate checks and middle of the night recordings of his heart.  He also borderlines Autisum and Aperpergers Syndrome with EXTREME sensory issues.

My 6 year old son also has some OT and Speech Issues with Anxiety thrown in the mix

And then there is my 19 year old that will be leaving for Basic Training in less than 3 weeks

WHY am I telling you all this ? well because I have realized that as a Military Wife I do have a story to tell and it comes with ups and downs and lots of humor and laughter to come with it.  I only scratched the surface with everything, so want the GOOD NEWS ?

I’m running away to the West Indies and going to sip Wine everyday !!!

I just counted and we have 10 Therapy visits weekly OT PT etc etc

7 Hours of Behavioral Therapy soon to be adding 6 more hours

and then home visits and bio parent visits in between

Complaining ? NO not at all ……I actually Love my crazy busy life and Love my kids !!

I will be making more time for my site and my amazing husband has agreed to help give the time to blog etc etc

I will also be starting up two new sites one all about Special Needs Children with a lot of info  on  the Military and all the things that THEY  don’t tell you is out there to help you with your children. Things I have learned and am still learning about.

My second site will be on our Journey of Fostering and Adopting and how you can help a child, There are only 2 Foster Parents on Fort Carson myself and another Family and Foster Homes are always needed for children. I’m going to let you know how we became Foster Parents and how you can do this and be Military.  I know you all are going to love both of my new sites and a new Revamp to Living Life Household 6 Stlye !!!!

Have you seen any of the new JCPenney commercials this week?

The new Penney’s CEO has rolled out a new pricing strategy. JCPenney is permanently marking down all of its merchandise by at least 40%, so shoppers no longer have to wait for sales to get bargains. It is getting rid of the hundreds of sales it offers each year in favor of a simpler approach to pricing.

Here’s how Penney’s pricing strategy will work:

• Sale prices become everyday prices. The company will use sales data from last year to slash prices on all merchandise at least 40% or lower than the previous year’s prices.
• Fewer sales. They will pick items to go on sale each month for a “Month-Long Value.” Items that don’t sell will go on clearance on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. Those items will be tagged “Best Prices,” signaling to customers that it’s the cheapest price.
• New tags. Each time an item gets a new price, it gets a new tag. A red tag indicates an “Every Day” price, a  white tag a “Month-Long Value” and a blue tag a “Best Price.”
• Simpler  pricing. Penney will use whole figures when pricing items. In other words, you won’t see jeans with a price tag of $19.99, but rather $19 or $20.
• New advertising. New ads began airing recently  to promote the new return policy and this new pricing/sales strategy. The company also has a new spokeswoman (Ellen DeGeneres) and new logo.

I think it will be interesting to see how this plays out and if it will end up being a successful strategy for JCP. This probably means that there will be no more of those JCP coupons.

THIS PROJECT WILL BE CONDUCTED  IN APRIL 2012 WITH  STARTING DATE Of APPROXIMATELY APRIL 1, 2012.   THIS WILL REQUIRE BETWEEN 1 FULL DAYS AND A WEEK TO COMPLETE FOR EACH MAP AREA THAT YOU ACCEPT. The time required is determinted by the size of the map area.  Some maps can be completed in one day and others require more time.

YOU WILL BE PAID $12 AN HOUR AND ALSO GIVEN GAS MILEAGE OF $.50 PER MILE FROM THE TIME YOU LEAVE YOUR HOUSE EACH DAY TIL YOUR RETURN EACH DAY.

THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL MYSTERY SHOP.  YOU WILL BE CONDUCTING A BUSINESS CENSUS. IT IS A VERY, VERY HARD PROJECT.  IT REQUIRES MANY HOURS OF WALKING UP AND DOWN MANY STREETS IN AN INDIVIDUAL MAPPED AREA THAT WE PROVIDE.. You must be physically able to conduct this type of survey.

 WE ARE ONLY GIVEN A PERIMETER OUTLINE OF A MAP AREA – SOMETIMES WITH THE STREETS LISTED AND SOMETIMES NOT LISITED. YOU WILL BE GATHERING INFORMATION FROM EACH BUSINESS THAT YOU VISIT.

 WE DO NOT HAVE THE LIST OF BUSINESSES WITHIN THAT MAP AREA. YOU MUST LOCATE THESE BUSINESSES BY CANVASSING THE AREA YOURSELF.

 You will be listing all businesses that you find on a listing sheet.  We are looking for more detailed information on certain products.

 THERE IS A 30 PAGE BOOKLET TO COMPLETE FOR CERTAIN PRODUCTS.  THE BOOKLET IS MAINLY OBSERVING/ASKING A LOT OF QUESTIONS PERTAINING TO COLD DRINKS (including soda, orange juice, iced tea, juices, lemonade, frozen beverages) AND CREDIT CARD info.

YOU ARE PAID FOR THE ENTIRE TIME THAT YOU VISIT EACH BUSINESS AS WELL AS TRAVEL TIME FROM AND TO YOUR HOME EACH DAY THAT YOU ARE WORKING ON THIS PROJECT.

 EXCELLENT ORGANIZATIONAL, WRITTEN AND ENGLISH SKILLS ARE REQUIRED. IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO FILL IN A LENGTHY BOOKLET WITH INFORMATION THAT APPLYS TO EACH BUSINESS IN ADDITIION TO RELATED PAPERWORK.  THERE IS VERY LITTLE WRITING – IT IS MOSTLY A CHECKOFF LIST.
